DIY: Feather Bookmarks

Since the last DIY I shared, was appreciated, I thought of sharing another easy DIY for making bookmarks. It is the most colorful and classiest one I’ve tried so far.

All you need:

  • Coloured paper
  • Ruler
  • Scissor
  • Pencil
  • Glue
  • Thread or Wool
  • One hole punch machine

Once you have everything ready, take your coloured paper and cut half inch wide strips. Make sure the lines are straight and equal before cutting them. Measure from the top and bottom with the help of the ruler before drawing the lines.

We shall be using two sets of two different coloured strips to make it look colourful and impressive.

Take two strips of one colour and stick the tops of both the strips making an “L” shape.

Take two strips from the second colour and stick them parallel to the first two strips leaving a square space at the top.

Start folding the strips one colour at a time. Make sure you don’t leave spaces in between the strips that will ruin the shape of the bookmark. The folds should be parallel to the previous strip folded.

Once you reach the end stick the remaining bit at the back of the bookmark folding it upwards.

Punch a hole at top and pass a thread or a wool to make the tassel of your bookmark.

You can use different colour combinations and textures to recreate this DIY. It can also be made with 4-6 different colours. It will add thickness to the bookmark and will look impressive.

Hope you liked this post. Share your pictures if you recreate. Tag me, I would love to check it out.

This totally reminds me of the crafts we used to do in school. In particular when making christmas decorations, the same ‘braiding’ method is used. Super cute idea – thank you for sharing!
