Favorite affordable halal/vegan lipsticks

For me a good lipstick should  first and foremost be halal, secondly I am very particular about the formula and application, I cannot make do with lipsticks that are very drying patchy and uneasy to apply. Thirdly, I love me a good lipstick that ticks all these boxes and does not cost me an arm and a leg. This makes a package deal.

I’ve picked out some of my favourite lipsticks that are affordable, have good colour payoff and are also cruelty free/vegan/halal. They made it to my favourites and here is the reason why!

Luscious Cosmetics

Luscious Cosmetics claims to be cruelty free and vegan which makes their lipsticks halal. I love that their products are affordable and still one of the best quality. No kidding I have never bought a product by luscious that has disappointed me. They are easy to apply and very light to wear. Doesn’t feel heavy on the lips and the colour payoff is bomb. They are locally available which is a thumbs up.

These are three of my favourite shades.

From top to bottom: Royal Red, Fuchsia, Just Peachy.

Royal Red is one of those colours that compliment all shades of skin. It is kind of similar to the shade of red lipstick that everyone went gaga over after Mahira khan wore it to the hum awards back in 2012. It was and still is a trend. I love that it is sheer and matte at the same time, so the colour is pigmented yet glowy and your lips look healthy and moisturized.  It applies smooth and the result is not patchy at all, one application is enough. If you’re only wearing this lipstick, with minimal makeup, you look fabulous. It helps you slay without making a lot of effort.

Love this shade! It’s simply elegant.

Flirty Fuchsia is the perfect pink for medium to light skin; I like it because it is the only pink that suits me. I’ve tried multiple pinks from several brands but they just don’t look good on me. Maybe it’s because my lips are of a darker colour? I’m not sure but this is the one pink shade that ticks all my boxes and still looks good on me.

Just Peachy  is my absolute favourite shade in this entire world. I can trust this lipstick more than myself, it’s that good. Never disappoints me, always has my back, looks good with every look. Super moisturising! Love it. I have nothing more to say it’s just the best. Thank you Luscious for coming out with this lipstick. BRAVO!

All three of these are not very sheer but have a super moisturised finish, which is the perfect look for me.

Colorpop

Colorpop is also a vegan and cruelty free brand which makes it my favourite. It is also very affordable and offers a variety of colours and formulas to choose from.

I haven’t tried a lot of Colorpop lipsticks, but out the few I have tried, this mini set is my favourite. These are the mini versions of the ultra matte liquid lipsticks. It isn’t available locally but through several makeup pages you can easily get your favourite shade.

More better is the first shade I have swatched. It is my favourite bold liquid lipstick. It is a dark pink, magenta sort of a colour. I love how it applies and the result is amazing. Whenever my makeup feels flat and I need to add an extra umph into the look this colour never disappoints me. Several times I have had people ask me what lipstick I am wearing. It looks beautiful with white or black clothing.

Creeper is the perfect red with an orange undertone. It is the second colour that is swatched. If compared to the Royal red by Luscious both these colours are very different and give separate results. I had to put both of them in my favourites because they are not one and the same thing. Creeper is more likely to be paired with and electric blue or brownish look. Both of them are different yet vital colours J

Beeper, Clueless and Tulle (third fourth fifth swatched respectively) all three are brown shades with different undertones. Beeper is your classic every day nude shade where as tulle is a dark brown which looks amazing in a full face of makeup. It can be classified as a fall colour. Clueless is a pinky nude which compliments a simple face of makeup.

As you can see in the swatches, these lipsticks are matte finish like all other liquid lipsticks. For many people the formula hasn’t worked. They dry patchy and crack their lips. However, I didn’t face such an issue. I think if the lips are properly exfoliated and moisturised then the lipsticks work just fine.

I got this mini set from a makeup exhibition by Cosmetic Candy held at Royal Rodale.

Essence

Essence is another brand that is affordable and vegan. In drugstore essence has the cheapest prices to offer.

Look at me is the shade I love from essence. It is kind of a glossy lipstick. I couldn’t swatch it because it is sheer and doesn’t show properly on camera. It is like a coloured gloss in a lipstick formula. It adds the right amount of colour to the face if one is wearing no makeup. Makes you look less like a zombie and more alive. I pair it with some black kohl and mascara and I’m good to go. Essence do some amazing lip colours if you’re not in the mood to spend a lot on makeup.

Lastly I love this lip gloss from Diamond shine. I believe it is a local brand. It is in the shade number 16. I have repurchased this lip gloss loads of times. Like the lipstick from essence, I use it to add colour to a no makeup face. It is the perfect brown for my skin shade. Looks spectacular!

These are all of my favourite lipsticks that I have used and abused during the past few years. I had to open new packages to take pictures because the current ones are not in a presentable state. I hope you enjoyed this post. Please make sure to avoid being a ghost reader and show some love by liking and sharing and caring and living.

It is very important to identify and research the ingredients of a lip product before purchase as you may be buying a product that contains haram ingredients. I will soon be writing a post on how one can identify if a lipstick is halal or vegan or cruelty free. Also what halal alternates can be used for your favourite shades i.e halal dupes for different lip shades. Make sure you follow me on my social media and blog so that you can be notified when I do so.

If you have any questions feel free to ask me in the comments or message me on Instagram I would love to be of help.

  2. Great photos and swatches. I’ve been sticking to NYX matte lipstick right now. And yah I haven’t thought of checking the ingredients and if it’s halal. What do you think is it? I got a colorpop lipgloss which I haven’t used that much though. Well I’m just really comfortable with MATTE type. Don’t like that sticky feeling on my lips 😜.

Nyx lipsticks are halal so your good 😊 liquid lipsticks are the best tbh but I don’t usually do makeup that often so I like to keep it light with a simple lip.

I also discovered recently that products are used in the making of a lipsticks that can be Haram. Like animal fat (pig) Carmine which is the juice of a beetle etc.

    Asaalamo alaikum

Thanks for the list but there’s an error:

Tulle from Colourpop is not vegan (as mentioned on their website) which means it has the possibility (read: possibility) that it may contain Carmine.
Non-Vegan products can also refer to use of fish scales or egg derivatives, but since there is a
Doubt that it can also refer to Carmine, I suggest you look into this.

    JazakAllah khair.
